It looks like most festivals are returning, aside from those that were killed off by the lockdowns of the past 2 years. That took a heavy toll on their finances. I am checking with them day by day, if you have an update for an, please tell me via the Feedback form.

New York 2024 Strawberry Festivals - Where, When and More Details!

There are two general types of strawberry festivals 1) community festivals, usually organized by a church, school, local Chamber of commerce or a town and 2). Strawberry festival held at and by a farm

They are different in what they offer, so they are grouped separately. (of course not all states and areas have both. And following the festival listings are links to our easy to follow directions about making strawberry jam, freezing strawberries, strawberry pies and much more. 

Community Strawberry Festivals

  • Albion Strawberry Festival - early June, Friday and Saturday
    Albion, NY. Email: jmpersia@yahoo.com. You can see photos from previous years on their website, along with this year's date and time. . (ADDED: March 02, 2015, JBS)
  • Beacon Sloop Club's Strawberry Festival - Sunday, early June from 12 noon to 5pm
    Riverfront Park, Beacon, NY. The Strawberry Festival helps raise funds for the upkeep of the organization's flagship, The Woody Guthrie, and for their sailing and educational programs. Strawberry treats that will be available include sublime strawberry shortcake that is baked on-site, as well as smoothies and hand-dipped chocolate-covered berries. Several local vendors will be set up selling a variety of food and crafts. There will be live music throughout (traditionally including an appearance by one of BSC's founders, Pete Seeger) and many educational and environmental booths. And of course the Woody, a wooden replica of a gaff-rigged Hudson River ferry sloop, will be on hand for free sails on the Hudson during the festival.
  • East Fishkill Historical Society Brinckerhoff House Annual Strawberry Festival - Sunday in early June from 1 pm to 4 pm
    68 N Kensington Dr, Hopewell Junction, NY 12533. Join us for one of our favorite signature events. There will be demonstrations, tours of buildings and site, animals, hayrides, crafts, music and of course our famous strawberry shortcake, while supplies last.  Come meet your neighbors and celebrate the start of summer.
  • Historical Society of the Massapequas Strawberry Festival - Saturday, mid June (call for this year's dates)

  • Kanatsiohareke Mohawk Community Strawberry Festival - Saturday and Sunday, on the last weekend in June each year. (Canceled in 2021 - even though their website indicates it is still on!)
    4934 State Highway Route 5, Fonda, NY 12068. Open: the last Saturday from 10am to 8pm with Social Dancing afterwards and Sunday from 10am to 6pm. The Kanatsiohareke (Gah-Nah-Joe-Hah- Lay- Gay) Summer Festival is a family-friendly celebration of Mohawk culture that is shared with friends, relatives, volunteers and everybody in the local Mohawk River Valley community.  The event includes Genuine Iroquois (Haudenosaunee) storytelling, dancing, music and culture as well as contemporary music. Vendors will be selling genuine Native American art works and crafts. Food will include some traditional Mohawk dishes as well as organic grass-fed beef.
    A visitor writes on June 13, 2013: "Hello, There is a Strawberry Festival down in Yosts NY, it's between Fonda & Palatine Bridge NY on State Highway 5,it was the old Montgomery County Home for aging, the name has now been changed to an Indian name that I can not find nor pronounce, but their festival is running the last weekend of this month(June),plus that weekend is also their celebration of twenty years in that location. Thank you"
  • Mattituck Strawberry Festival - mid June (check their website for this year's dates) June 15-19, 2022
    Fairgrounds, Mattituck, NY. Hulling Night will be on Thursday June 14th if you would like to volunteer, other pages: Directions Festival Schedule, Festival Craft Vendors, Craft Vendor Application. No pets permitted on Festival grounds. This is an alcohol-free event. For the security of all our patrons, entering the festival field with a backpack will be prohibited. The festival has been going for 65 years.

  • Nassau County Strawberry Festival for Charity - UPDATE for 2021, Their website and Facebook page haven't been updated since 2019. Does anyone have current information, is the festival still being held or is it permanently canceled? If so, please write me, their last reported hours were: The weekend AFTER Memorial Day -  (check their website for this year's dates)
    BOCES,  Newbridge Road and Jerusalem Avenue, Bellmore. Sponsored by Bellmore Kiwanis and Lions. Typically, it is on a Wednesday and Thursday 6pm to 10 pm, Friday, 6 pm to 11pm, Saturday, 12 Noon-11pm, Sunday, 12 Noon-8 pm. There will be plenty of rides, free live entertainment, free parking, fresh strawberries & lots of strawberry concoctions. There will be a $2.00 (2008 price) admission fee on Friday through Sunday. Children under 5 are admitted free. So come on down and support your local not-for-profit organizations that give back to your community. 
  • New York All Church Annual Picnic and Strawberry Festival - Sunday in May
    62 East Ninety-Second Street, New York, NY 10128. Phone: 212-289-4400. Each year, Brick Church shuts down 92nd Street for the All-Church Picnic and Strawberry Festival. This event counts among the congregation's favorites with its fun atmosphere and great food. Come out after service to enjoy live music, great food (hot dogs, strawberry shortcake with ice cream, chocolate sauce and whipped cream), games for kids and conversation with friends and neighbors.
  • New-York Historical Society Annual Strawberry Festival - Wednesday, in April

  • New York University's Strawberry Festival - Friday, in May from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm (it was May 3rd in 2019)
    LaGuardia Place (between West 3rd St and Washington Square South), New York, NY. A tradition for over 20 years, Strawberry Festival gathers students, staff and faculty in celebration of wellness, community, and of course, strawberries! This street fair includes carnival games, give-a-ways, interactive booths, live music, and NYC's longest strawberry shortcake.  The Strawberry Festival is sponsored by the Program Board at NYU. 
  • Owego Strawberry Festival - mid-June  check their website this year's dates)
    downtown Owego New York. Phone: 800-671-7772. Alternate phone: 607-687-2556. Plan to enjoy plenty of great food and a fantastic array of arts and crafts. Over 200 vendors and artisans will line the streets. Visit the shops in downtown Owego. Our selection of fine restaurants and unique shops are filled with distinctive merchandise and is sometimes referred to as the best kept secret in the Southern Tier€ Southern Tier's granddaddy signature festival, an event filled with entertainment, food, artisans, parade, strawberry shortcakes, wine tasting, FUN and everything else strawberries. The Festival grows each year and manages to keep its small town country flavor with over 20,000 visitors in attendance. The Historic Owego Marketplace will also be host to the Autumn Harvest Festival.
  • Plattsburgh United Methodist Church Strawberry Festival - Late June, on a Thursday from 12 pm to 7 pm
    127 Beekman St, Plattsburgh, New York 12901. Phone: (518) 563-2992. The Annual Strawberry Festival and Book Sale will take place  on the church grounds. Wood, Wire and Voice Coffee House musicians will perform at 6 PM, so bring a lawn chair or blanket. The always-popular Book Sale will open at 11 AM, featuring paperback and hard cover books of all types at VERY reasonable prices. Plan to take home an armload! Also for sale are strawberries, strawberry products and baked goods.
    The picnic fare menu is served all day: michigans or barbecued meatball sandwiches, macaroni salad, coleslaw, baked beans. Of course, dessert is strawberry shortcake (on the church's renowned biscuits) or sundae, and choice of beverage. Prices: $10 - adult; $6 - children; under 6 - free; dessert and beverage only - $6.   • Scio Lions Club Strawberry Festival - Saturday. in late June from 10 am to 4 pm UPDATE for 2022, There is nothing on their website about it, as of early May 2022 - call them, email them or keep checking their website
    Scio Central School, 3968 Washington St, Scio, New York 14880. Phone: 716-378-4040. This annual event was moved to all day long on a Saturday. There will be many activities, like a car show, crafts, vendors,  and foods, likehot dogs, hamburgers and, strawberry desserts, like Strawberry Shortcakes and strawberry Sundaes!
  • Stanford Grange #808 Annual Strawberry Festival - Saturday, in mid-June at 5 pm
    Stanford Grange Hall, 6043 Route 82, Stanfordville, NY 12581. .The menu will include traditional picnic fare of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, and homemade strawberry shortcake for dessert made with hand-picked local strawberries and homemade ice cream and biscuits. 2021 Donation was $15 per dinner. Drive to the back of the Grange Hall, pay for your dinner, get your food through your car window, and take it home to enjoy! All CDC and Governor Cuomo's Health Guidelines will be followed. For reservations (which are a must as we may run out of dinners), call Grange Secretary Ryan Orton at (845) 868-7869.
  • Syracuse University Annual Strawberry Festival - mid June; Friday June 14, 2019 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. rain or shine on the Quad. UPDATE for 2022, There is nothing on their website about it, as of early May 2022 - call them, email them or keep checking their website
    Syracuse University Shaw Quadrangle, Crouse Dr, Syracuse, NY 13210. Phone: 315-443-3527. Info for 2019: Strawberry Sundae Tickets: $5.50, Tickets can be purchased the day of the event. Students: Show your SU I.D. and receive a free sundae or shortcake.  There will be a Farmer's Market from 10 am to 2 pm.  Student games and contests, Prizes and giveaways, Picnic foods, Information tables featuring SU departments. Bike tune-up clinic sponsored by SU Public Safety. Sponsored by University College and the Department of Recreation Services.
  • Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow Annual Strawberry Festival - Sunday, mid-June from 12 pm to 3 PM

In the Garden at One Grove Street and across the street at Neperan Park.  This community event is a great place to meet old friends and new for a afternoon of strawberry shortcake, lemonade, iced tea and old fashioned fun. As in the past, local musicians will be on hand to entertain our guests. Tickets to the Strawberry Festival are $7 per person and entitle you to a portion of Strawberry shortcake. Tickets sales help the Society to care for the museum's collection, the archives and library and continue our school programs.   • The Church of St. Mary the Virgin Annual lStrawberry Festival - early June from 11 am to 4 pm

  • Wainscott Sewing Society Strawberry Festival - Sunday in mid-June from 2pm to 4pm.

  • Zion Episcopal Church Douglaston - Saturday in mid-June from 10 am to 4 pm

Fresh, local strawberries and sold and served (with ice cream and shortcake!) alongside grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, and other delicious foods. Antiques, collectibles, and fun household items are sold and vendors from the area sell unique gifts. The bouncy castle is a popular destination for children along with kids' games, face-painting, and children's flea market. Zion looks forward to offering this event to the community next year and sharing the sweet, sweet Spirit in this place.

Farm Strawberry Festivals

In addition to community and church festivals, some private farms have their own strawberry festivals in June.  See each farm for this year's dates (they often do not announce them until the end of May).   • Benner's Farm's Strawberry Farm - Saturday and Sunday, in early to mid June (check their website for this year's dates)

  • Liberty Ridge Farm - Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 11 am to 4 pm, RAIN or SHINE

The Barnyard Grill will be open all day serving hot meals fresh off the smoker & grill!  Farm fresh strawberries will also be for sale in the Market Barn along with local produce, home décor, baked goods, toys and souvenirs. Our u-pick strawberry fields will be ripe for the picking! Fill a container with plump strawberries to take home, pay by the lb!  Giant Gerbil Wheels, Jumbo Jumping Pillows, Farmer Flinger Swing, Birdhouse Village, Duck Races, Farm Animals & more in Brad's Barnyard of fun.   • Merritt Estate Winery Strawberry Festival - June , Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 12 pm to 10 pm and Sunday, June 10th from 12 pm to 6 pm(check their website for this year's dates)

We see annual attendance rates in the thousands as people from all over Pennsylvania, Canada, and Western New York travel to take part in tone of the most talked about events in Chautauqua County! Each year, we work with a specific non-profit organization to raise money for their cause. Merritt Estate Winery will be kicking off the summer with our 38th Annual Strawberry Festival. The two-day festival will take place on the estate of Merritt Winery on 2264 King Road in Forestville, NY. This Strawberry Festival is everything Strawberry; from wine to shortcake to chocolate-covered strawberries. We will have something for everyone with this free family fun event. Highlights include wine, beer, great food, our FAMOUS Sangria Wine Slush, classic car show, live music & craft vendors.
  • Saunderskill Farm - Saturday, mid-June from 10 AM to 3 PM
