Making and canning your own
Ingredients
Homemade Root Beer
Carbonated with yeast.
Mix together 5 lbs.
sugar and one teaspoon baker's yeast. Add one 4 oz. bottle of The Big H Root
Beer Extract http://store.hiresbigh.com/rootbeer-extract and 4 gallons of cold water
and mix thoroughly until the sugar and yeast have dissolved. Pour the root
beer into clean bottles leaving about an inch of head space. Cap the bottles
and let them sit at room temperature for 3 or 4 days. (If using plastic
bottles, the bottles will feel hard when squeezed.) Store the fermented root
beer in a refrigerator or other cool location. Bottles left in a warm
environment will explode.
Quantity: 4 gallons.
