Our blueberries were planted during World War II, and they're still going strong. The woman who planted them chose heirloom varieties that ripen in succession, making for a long and delicious blueberry season. Concords and Jerseys were planted in large quantities, along with Dixie, Stanley, and Weymouth. In 2020, U-Pick blueberries $3 per pound, or you can get a prepaid card that allows you to pick 50 pounds for $50. Our blueberries are CERTIFIED ORGANIC, so they are never sprayed with chemicals. . Farms that offer U-pick or pick-your-own flowers are becoming more common.
Once picked, quickly get the stems into water
Get them out of the hot sun after picking to increase shelf life. Cool shade is best.
Re-cut stems while underwater - once you get home. Making a fresh cut, while the cut end is submerged helps the stem to take up water and avoid a
vapor lock.
