It is almost November already and Christmas is fast approaching! Now is a great time to review and update your FREE listing on the most viewed free informational Christmas web site on the web ( www.PickYourOwnChristmasTree.org ).

You have undoubtedly had calls or emails about your Christmas tree farm, lot or event and wondered how they heard of you. With a number 1 ranking in most search engines, including Google, and over 2 million visitors a month to pickYourOwnChristmasTree.org, I will bet a number of them came from here.

If you did not enter your own listing, I probably added you via a referral from a customer, a newspaper story, a Christmas tree farmers organization, state ag website or other source.

But you will have a better listing if you review your listing to correct any errors, update info for this year and add any other information and links back to your website (if you have one). Obviously, these links will not only send you customers, but will also boost your websites ranking in the search engine. I do request that you put links back to at least one page on one of my websites - that, too will help your website also (it is part of Googles PageRank algorithm - if you want proof, see Googles own statements about it: here are two references:

I have many pages to choose from that will interest your customers. I have listed some at the end of this email.

As I mentioned, there is no fee whatsoever - advertisers pay (those unobtrusive Google adds at the top and bottom), so the website is free for both farmers and visitors.

to verify your listing, see the bottom of this email for a copy of your current listing and directions to update it. If you click on the update link there, much of the form will be pre-populated from your current listing - but still check it carefully!

I have also noticed that many visitors are requesting information about which farms offer sleigh rides, hay rides and other agri-entertainment activities (farm animals, reindeer, Santa visits, etc.) . You are customers are mostly families, usually with small children, so my recommendation is, if you do not offer anything like this, you may want to partner with a stable or equestrian center and other vendors that can provide these services at your site, particularly on weekends. If there is enough interest, I will put together a listing of such vendors for farms.

I am also getting more requests from entrepreneurs who are looking for wholesale trees to have their own retail tree lot, and for some organizations, notably churches and shopping malls, who are looking for someone to operate a tree lot on their premises, as a draw to customers (malls) or as a fundraiser (churches). If you have interest in running a local lot or simply selling trees wholesale, let me know!

If your listing below looks fine to your, you do not need to do anything. But you still might want to click on the link to enhance your listing by adding a link to a mapquest map or to the hours or map page on your website, or to add more information, like the varieties of trees you offer. All of this will help to draw customers.

Remember to ALWAYS call the farm or orchard BEFORE you go - weather, heavy picking and business conditions can always affect their hours and crops!
