Alabama

  • >National Peanut Festival - November 5-14, 2021
    5622 Highway 231, Dothan, Alabama 36301. Phone: 334-793-4323. Email: info@nationalpeanutfestival.com. . The National Peanut Festival, the nation's largest peanut festival, is held in Dothan, Alabama each fall to honor local peanut farmers and to celebrate the harvest season. Located in the southeast corner of Alabama, Dothan is known as the "Peanut Capital of the World" and is a prias inaugurated on a near freezing Thursday, November 10, 1938. The three day event included a pageant, parade, historical play and grand ball. The guest speaker was Dr. George Washington Carver. Dr. Carver was a modest, unassuming man from the Tuskegee Institute who gained international fame with his development of over 300 products from the peanut. The peanut festival was celebrated annually through 1941, but was postponed until after World War II. In 1947, the first post-war festival was presented and has continued every year since.

Georgia

  • Annual Georgia Peanut Festival -   on the 3rd Saturday of every October
    T.C. Jeffords Park, Sylvester GA.  Phone: 229-776-6657 . Activities include one of the largest parades in the Southeast and craftsmen from all over the state showcasing their creations. Most importantly, you will experience peanut treats to delight everyone in the family (did you know that every jar of Peter Pan peanut butter is made right here in Sylvester GA?). Thousands of people flock to Sylvester-Worth County to enjoy the festivities that go on throughout the day, and many locals participate in several events that happen in the weeks leading up to the Festival, like a beauty pageant with up to 100 contestants as well as the Pets 'N Pals parade, so if you haven't been yet, you really don't know what you're missing! Everyone is invited for this day full of southern food, fun, and entertainment with fun for the entire family, including the free Kidz Korner for the little ones. We hope that you will join us in celebrating one of the largest industries in Georgia, right here in the Peanut Capital of the World!
  • >Annual Plains Peanut Festival - over 21 years; mid September  (September 25, 2021)
    Plains, GA. The annual Plains Peanut Festival is centered around one of the Sumter County community's claims to fame, its peanut production, and features the community's most famous residents in active roles. The festival kicks off with a 1-mile fun run and a 5-K road race. People line the sidewalks of Plains each year to watch the unique entries in the parade downtown. Visitors enjoy the all-day event and educational exhibits are on display to accent the importance of agriculture in this region.

South Carolina

  • >Bluffton Boiled Peanut Festival - September (September 11, 2021)
    Calhoun St (Lawrence St - Green St), Bluffton, SC 29910. Phone: 912-484-8510. The Boiled Peanut cook-off was the brain child of local Blufftonians Jared Jester and Hannah Parrish. From its beginnings at the Bluffton Farmer's Market, the event has grown in notoriety and is now a large community family-centric event. The Cook-Off features the best Boiled Peanuts, both traditional and creative. This year we are heading back to our roots. We have decided to move the festival back to Calhoun St to focus more on the Nuttiness of the Boiled Peanut Cook-Off and other festival Contests. Bluffton Boiled Peanut Festival Facebook page.   • Annual Floresville Peanut Festival - every 2nd weekend in October;
    Floresville, Texas. Phone: 830-534-8983. Celebrating the farming and harvesting of the area's peanut crop, annual activities include the Goober Games for children, a pageant, parades, street dances, and entertainment. Free Admission on the Grounds The Floresville Peanut Festival is celebrated  with fun, games, royalty, parades and more in Floresville, TX. Goober Games, held on the grounds of the courthouse, kicks off the exciting week on Tuesday afternoon with games and activities for all children. The Coronation of Queen Tunaep, King Reboog and the royal court are crowned during an elaborate ceremony. The gorgeous gowns of the court, with their long, flowing trains, are designed by local talent and constructed by friends, family, and/or professional seamstresses with a different theme each year. The carnival kicks off the weekend festivities and runs Thursday. Friday afternoon begins with a Kiddie Parade for children and their friends to show off their floats and costumes, with the winners invited to participate in the Big Parade on Saturday. Friday night features a Street Dance featuring local talent. Food concessions with the finest favorite festival foods, ranging from pizza to gorditas.  Saturday is the grand party, beginning with the Floresville Peanut Festival Parade at 10 am The day's activities also include the annual raffle, arts and crafts vendors, various musical and dance groups, local talent and various entertainment located on several stages around the peanut square and carnival -- fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. Tours of the Wilson County Historical Jailhouse Museum are available. Peanut products such as peanut brittle, homemade peanut butter, peanut cookies, roasted peanuts (shelled and salted), pies and ice cream are all available to satisfy your peanut palate. The evening continues with a Street Dance provided by local talent. Food concessions remain open to quench your hunger and thirst.

This family-friendly event honors the city's agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts, our favorite legumes. Known for its fun family activities, Suffolk Peanut Fest offers concerts, amusement rides, contests and competitions, a demolition derby, motorcycle rally, shrimp feast, fireworks and much more. Combine all of these great activities with local and national entertainment and you have a weekend full of good times! Free & Open to the Public. We will have all of your favorites including arts and crafts, educational exhibits, a parade, live musical entertainment throughout the weekend, tractor displays, golf tournament, and that festival food we all look forward to every year. The Car show will be held this year at its original site, The Old Elementary School, 114 South Main Street. From the old to the new, there is something there for everyone.
