Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with the farm directly before you go! Notes for July 2026: Summer is here and that means blueberries, peaches, raspberries, blackberries, figs, corn and tomatoes are here. Check your area's specific crop calendar (see this page) and call your local farms for seasonal updates. Strawberries and cherries are done in all areas except the far north.

Directions: Access to Mountainhome Farm is from Dix Run Road (SR-3030), between Unionville and Julian. From Unionville, follow Alt. Rt-220 south one mile, then turn right onto Dix Run Road. (From Julian, follow Alt. Rt-220 north about three miles, then turn left on Dix Run Road.) Travel ~1/2 mile up Dix Run Rd, then turn right onto Sengle Lane. Continue on Sengle Lane for ~1.1 mile to the farm (bear left at the fork in lane). Please travel at a safe speed and be cautious of two way traffic and hazards as our driveway is a private gravel road and is shared by our neighbors and their children. Elderberries are ready to pick in August. We are a small family farm. We grow blueberries, elderberries, and blackberries. Our blueberries start to ripen in early July and last for most of the month. The elderberries and blackberries ripen in August. In the years to come we will also have raspberries and arctic kiwis but now the plants are still too small to produce. All berries are U-Pick. Since we are a new farm the plants are still small to medium (except for the elderberries). We provide buckets for picking. All you need to bring are containers to take your berries home. The lane to our farm is narrow so this allows for one-way traffic up the hill before 7pm and then one-way down the hill from 7pm to dusk. Berry picking is fun for the whole family so bring the kids along. Blueberries are typically ready to pick starting the last week of June. Elderberries and blackberries are usually ready in early August. Please call before you come out, we try to match the number of pickers with the berries that are ready. Way Fruit Farm

2355 Halfmoon Valley Road, Port Matilda, PA 16870. Phone: (814) 692-5211. Open: 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm Saturday. Strawberries start in Mid-June and last till around July 4th. We have numerous varieties and a couple acres of Strawberries to be picked. The large Sour Cherry orchard is available for U-pick usually starting Mid-July and ending at the beginning of August. We start selling pumpkins in late September and continue until October. We also have a fall festival in October that you can get a wagon ride out to our patch and pick a pumpkin from the field yourself. See the Fall Festival page for more information. Every year Way Fruit Farm hosts a Fall Festival on the 2nd and 3rd Saturday's of October. The Festival is a great time to come out with family or friends and take a free wagon ride out to the pumpkin patch and pick just the pumpkin you want. There is also numerous other things to do at the festival. There is an apple slingshot, over a dozen crafters, a petting zoo and other activities to enjoy. Food is provided by a local Lions Club and baked goods including apple dumplings are available.
