Remember to always check with the farm's own website or Facebook page before you go - or call or email them if they don't have a website or Facebook page. Conditions at the farms and crops can change literally overnight, so if you want to avoid a wasted trip out there - check with the farm directly before you go! And if you know of any farms I missed and want to add a farm, please let me know!   I'm making updates for this year as fast as I can - if you find anything out-of-date, wrong or not working - please let me know! Notes for March 2024:Apples are usually January to May; Blueberries are ready in December to mid January in MOST areas of Australia. Strawberries can have a long season, November to April - depending on the variety. See your area's crop availability calendar for more specific dates of upcoming crops. Come and enjoy our delicious desserts cafe and then take a picnic to our swimming hole, one of the best in the Wellington region. The adults and children will enjoy the petting zoo with the baby animals. We do not charge an access fee to picnic on our portion of the river. Pauatahanui has many other activities to offer, great coffee and Lighthouse cinema, Battle Hill Regional park for walks and nature, the Pauatahanui Inlet for kayaking or learning to windsurf, and award winning fish and chip shop at Plimmerton. In Pauatahanui there is also a pyo apple orchard in March and April, a regional park for walking and mountain biking, a cafe with great food and outdoor village setting, a boutique movie theatre and we are close to the Pauatahanui inlet where you can kayak, there are also b and bs in our area if you need a place to stay.

Bluebank Farm is about 45 minutes drive from New Zealands capital - Wellington - and less than 10 minutes north from Upper Hutt City in the picturesque Akatarawa Valley. Have a close encounter of the " Emu" kind or just browse in the shop for blueberries, emu skin care products and meat, blueberry jam, fudge, pottery and hand made candles. Depending on weather and demand pick your own can last up until the end of April / mid May. Normally, the blueberry season for us goes from the 1st of January until the end of March / mid April. Turn right at the next roundabout past the New World Supermarket along Whitemans Road. Blue Mountains Road is the third on the left after the supermarket. Follow the signs from there. Marahua Blueberry Orchard in New Zealand was established in 1979, with the planting of five original American blueberry varieties: Atlanta, Burlington, Concord, Dixie and Jersey. The orchard has been organically run under the present ownership since 1993, and boasts of the tastiest blueberries in the world, with the original plantings still in place. It has become a community treasure. WHAT ELSE HAS IT GOT TO OFFER? Set back from but close to Highway 4, and right opposite a ski shop, Marahua has a quiet and peaceful small farm atmosphere, comfortable accommodation close to the Mount Ruapehu ski-fields, numerous walks, the Wanganui River adventures on the doorstep, hunting, mountain biking, trout fishing in the local Whakapapa River , the Wanganui River and Lake Taupo, 45 minutes away and much more.
