Notes for November 2024: Crop growth is slowing down, except for Christmas tree farms and if you live in southern California, southern Texas, Florida or along the Gulf coast where citrus are starting, and believe it or not, the blueberry and strawberry season in those areas is about to begin. See your state harvest calendar . This year, much of the country is still seeing mild weather, so lettuce, peas, broccoli, cabbage and other greens are thriving. And this is a good time to get a canner and learn how to preserve foods for the winter, like canning some applesauce, apple butter or jam, which make great gifts. The Apple Farm - strawberries, Apples

Each variety ripens at a different time of the season allowing us to offer Pick Your Own from late August through the end of October. Every Fall thousands of people visit the Farm to pick their own apples. During the Harvest, mid-August through the end of October, we allow people to come into our orchards to pick their favorite apples the freshest way possible - right off the tree. Our apple cider is nothing more than 100% apple juice. The term "apple juice" is actually a misnomer as what is sold as apple juice is actually a combination of juice concentrate, water, sugar, other sweeteners, preservatives, artificial colors, etc. Not only do we not add anything to our cider we do not use any rotten apples. Any apples that show signs of rot or decay will be removed from the the production line and composted.We crush the apples, press the mash and bottle the pure juice of the apples - no preservatives, nothing added, nothing taken out. Open: We have 6 varieties of organically grown highbush blueberries; Blueray, Bluecrop, Elliott, Patriot, Burkley, and Bluetta. The picking season usually starts about July 4th, with Bluetta and Patriot being the first to ripen. The picking season peaks about July 25th when all varieties are available and extends to about August 10th with the later varieties. We have several varieties of both light and dark sweet cherries including Bing, Emperor Francis, Hedelfingen, Hudson, Napoleon and, Schmidt. Our U-Pick sweet cherry season starts in early July and tart cherries usually start to ripen in mid-July. Cherry harvest is almost always completed by August 1st, when the peach season starts.
