Notes for May 2025: Spring is here! Strawberry season is here. It started in February in Florida, Texas, southern California and a few other areas of the Deep South; then March along the Gulf coast, April in the Deep South and west coast, May through much of the country, and June in northern areas. Blueberries are next, about a month later. Of course, cool weather crops, like Rhubarb, asparagus and greens should be available almost everywhere. Check your area's crop calendar (see this page) and call your local farms for seasonal updates.

Comments from a visitor on July 08, 2013: "Taylor Blueberry Farms is in Carroll County, GA. It seems this farm may have seen it's better days. After calling and speaking with Mr. Taylor this morning, I drove 45 minutes to find that the blueberry bushes are more like trees, with most being at least 10 feet tall. I suspect they haven't been appropriately pruned in quite some time. I made my way through the overgrown rows, carefully tromping through weeds and wild blackberry vines, picking what I could from the ground. I was determined to leave with at least a gallon, so I ended up going back to the house and asking Mr. Taylor if he had a ladder. He kindly told me where I could find one. I wouldn't recommend he allow most people to use his ladder as one could easily fall and get hurt, but I was careful and stayed around the perimeter. The berries were sparse even at ladder height. It took approximately 2.5 hours for me to get the gallon I wanted. I wouldn't suggest going out of the way to go to this farm. Mr Taylor is a nice elder gentleman, but after speaking with him, it seems his health is not currently allowing him to maintain the farm."

They water the plants two hours every day, and the health of the plants shows it. The blueberries are the largest I've seen, many the size of small grapes. The bushes are absolutely loaded. They cut them back every year so that the plants don't get too tall to pick them easily. And in the mornings, there is some shade, which is really nice when the weather is hot. And at $7 a gallon, very good priced."
