It looks like most festivals are returning, aside from those that were killed off by the lockdowns of the past 2 years. That took a heavy toll on their finances. I am checking with them day by day, if you have an update for an, please tell me via the Feedback form.

2024 Blueberry Festivals in Virginia - Where, When and More to Find a Blueberry Festival Near You!

Blueberries typically ripen in July in Virginia, some varieties start in mid June, some go into August.

There are two general types of blueberry festivals 1) community festivals, usually organized by a church, school, local Chamber of commerce or a town and 2). Blueberry festival held at and by a farm. They are different in what they offer, and community festivals tend to be less expensive so they are grouped separately. (of course not all states and areas have both.)

Community Blueberry Festivals

• Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church Blueberry Festival - Saturday in late June from 12 pm until 3 pm.UPDATE for 2022, Hasn't been held the past 2 years and there is no update for 2022 on their website about it, as of May 2022 - call them, email them or keep checking their website
  2102 Childress Road, Willis, Virginia. Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church will be hosting their annual Blueberry Festival. There will be food, fun, and live music! We will also have a bake sale table, yard sale items, and blueberries for sale! Last year's event was a great time of community sharing and we hope you can join us this year as we do it all again. Check our Facebook page for additional information in the days ahead. Be sure to set this date aside on your calendar and share our posts with your friends. In normal years, food will be available for a price around of $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under (subject to change, that's the 2019 price) . There was a choice of either BBQ Pulled Pork or Nathan's Hot dogs along with slaw, baked beans, chips, drinks and dessert! Events include a yard sale, bake sale, craft sale, and fresh blueberries for sale donated from Mountain Sunrise Blueberries in Hillsville. There will be live music for your enjoyment. Bring your friends and family and join us for a time of community togetherness! All the proceeds after expenses will be split between local charities in Floyd and Carroll County. The church is located at the corner of Childress Road and Rock Church Road. (2102 Childress Road, Willis, VA)
• Chincoteague Island Blueberry Festival - Late July - see their website for current dates and hours (Thursday, Friday and Saturday July 21,22 &23, 2022 from 9 am - 4:30 pm each day)

Chincoteague Blueberry Festival celebrating nature's healthiest fruit Join us in a mid-summer celebration of nature's tastiest and most healthy gift - The Blueberry - at the Chincoteague Blueberry Festival. Held at the beautiful Chincoteague Center on Chincoteague Island. This "beautiful land across the water" and vacation paradise on the Eastern Shore of Virginia hosts the Blueberry Festival every year on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday prior to the Chincoteague Pony Swim, from 9 am to 4:30 pm each day. Farm Blueberry Festivals

In addition to community and church festivals, some private farms have their own blueberry festivals. See each farm for this year's dates (they often do not announce them until the end of May). • Drewry Farms Blueberry Jam Festival - Mid to late June each year (over a 3 day, Friday - Sunday)

Open: the festival occurs in mid to late June each year (over a 3 day, Friday - Sunday). Directions: Located approximately 3.5 miles north of Wakefield on Route 31. Look for farm sign. 3 miles North of Wakefield, Virginia on Route 31. The blueberry picking season kicks off at our Blueberry Jam Festival on June 22st. We have been growing blueberries for over 20 years and thought is was time to evolve. In addition to our classic berries, we have many exciting new additions! Literally, Drewry Farms is growing by leaps and bounds. Last fall we planted 12,000 strawberry plants. We picked our first crop April 18 and sold them at the Smithfield Farmer's Market. We aim to share this experience with local cultural groups, historians, farmers, musicians, youth groups, enthusiasts, and anyone who wishes to try something new. Awareness is key at Blueberry Jam Festival, and understanding that we all have something to give and receive from one another.
