It looks like most festivals are returning, aside from those that were killed off by the lockdowns of the past 2 years. That took a heavy toll on their finances. I am checking with them day by day, if you have an update for an, please tell me via the Feedback form.

2024 Apple Festivals in Ohio - Where, When and More to Find an Apple Festival Near You!

Ohio

Apples typically ripen from July (yes, some early varieties start then, especially in southern areas) through early November.  Most apple varieties ripen in Spetember and October and this is when most apple festivals are held.  Unlike strawberries, which grow almost anywhere, apples are grown commercially in half as many states. They do not grow well in very warm climates, like Florida, and along the Gulf coast, etc. Apples require a certain number of hours of cold (below 40 F) in order to produce fruit. So most commercial apple production and apple festivals are north of Interstate 20 (I-20).

There are two general types of apple festivals 1) community festivals, usually organized by a church, school, local Chamber of commerce or a town and 2). Apple festival held at and by a farm. They are different in what they offer, and community festivals tend to be less expensive so they are grouped separately. (of course not all states and areas have both.)

Community Apple Festivals

• Applebutterfest - Weekend in (usually) mid-October
  Grand Rapids, OH. Historical reenactments with demonstrations and presentations of pioneer skills such as candle dipping, blacksmithing, pottery making, basket weaving, quilt making and metal spinning.
• Apple Butter Stirrin' Festival - Historic Roscoe Village has cancelled the Apple Butter Stirrin' Festival scheduled for  Apple Butter Stirrin' will be held on October 15-17, 2021, when we can have a fun-filled 50th anniversary event.
  Coshocton, OH. Surrounding hills, crafts, live music and apple butter simmering over an open fire at this event for over 30 years. Event dates: The Craft Show and Sale runs from 10 am to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10 am to 5 p.m. Sunday. Enjoy live entertainment from the Main Stage 11:30 am to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 10:30 am to 5 p.m. Sunday. So 2021 will be our 50th anniversary of this event. Holding the wellbeing of our staff, vendors, and attendees as our top priority, we understand that the risk of hosting such an event is simply too great. After reviewing state and local bans on mass gatherings and holding discussions with our local health departments, we recognize the uncertainty of the Coronavirus pandemic and believe this to be the safest decision. To our vendors, entertainment groups, and friends of this event, we cannot thank you enough for your continued support, patience, and understanding during this time.
• Burton Apple Butter Festival, Century Village Museum -  October weekend

Enjoy the aroma of sweet apples simmering over a wood fire in old-fashioned copper kettles, warm apple butter, fine arts and crafts show, storytellers, games and more. Visit the five fully furnished homes where pioneer crafts such as weaving, rug hooking and spinning can be enjoyed. Admission (in 2006): $5 adults, $3 children ages 6-12, seniors and children under 6 free. Hours: 10 am to 5 p.m. Call for information 440-834-1492.
• Country Applefest - Saturday, Saturday September 26th 2009 from 10 am to 7 pm.

• Enon Apple Butter Festival -
  Enon, OH. See apple butter being made the old fashion way in 50 gallon copper kettles, cooked over open fires. Canning and selling of the apple butter is done at the festival in the afternoon as it becomes ready. Admission to the festival grounds is free. Free parking is available.
• Hartford Apple Festival - September 17, 2021 to September 21, 2021
